Truth over titles
Walking away from being royalty? That’s a big deal. To choose your truth over a title?
That is bravery.
That is what’s really amazing about Meghan and Harry's (aka the Duke and Duchess of Sussex) decision to step back from being full time royals with the titles of Her/His Royal Highness. They honored their truths, and in doing so, they had to make a sacrifice.
Most of us work hard for our titles; we go to school, we put in the work, and we climb the ladder. We imagine that the titles will give us status and security. They will show everyone who we really are. And eventually we get recognized with those words that we crave:
Partner. Managing Director. CEO. Chief whatever.
But they are just titles, not truths.
Now imagine being born with a title. A title so important that the world watches you even as a child. A title worthy of a… prince.
To walk away from that title takes a lot. Perhaps it is true love, or perhaps it’s true frustration. Perhaps it is the desire to find a true calling away from everything that can seem frustrating and false. Whatever it is, it takes truth to walk away from a title.
Harry and Meghan did it. They left being “royal highness” at the door to see what is out in the world when they don’t have that title. To get away from the castle… to get away from the critics.
What truth would you trade your title for?
